CrossFit, CrossFit Kids & Teens Coach
I've always been a competitive person. Even as a kid it didn't matter if we were racing to the mailbox or seeing who could make the biggest splash in the pool, I always wanted to win. Growing up I was in gymnastics which not only fed into my love of competition, but it also taught me how rewarding it was to be a part of a team. I realized right away how good it felt to help others to reach their goals and to achieve something together.
After high school I was out of competitive sports for a number of years. During this time my weight and fitness fluctuated greatly. I have always had a difficult time with moderation. When I'm good I'm really good, but when I'm bad, things can get ugly. Three years ago I was in one of my good stretches and I was looking for something to take things to the next level. I occasionally could find people to exercise with, but eventually life would happen and I would find myself alone. Around this time I started hearing a lot about CrossFit online. The more I looked into it, the more it seemed like this was something that I should check out.
I started exercising at CrossFit Beloit in May of 2013. I was immediately struck by the overwhelming love and acceptance from so many people in the gym. I felt at home there right away. For the first time since high school, I felt like an athlete. I was part of team again. I have never enjoyed exercising more than I have in the years since joining CrossFit Beloit. The biggest reason for that is the people there. I can truly say they are my second family.
In March of 2016 I was given the opportunity to start coaching; first in the Kids Program and then also in the adult classes. I have loved every second of it. It makes me feel good to be able to help others succeed in their goals and to have something to contribute to a place that has given me so much. In the future I am really looking forward to improving my coaching skills and becoming someone at the gym that people look to for advice and inspiration.
