We were the "old couple" trying to enjoy our grandchildren. What we found is that we were in poor health to keep up with an active 2 year old grandson. We couldn't get off the floor after playing with him nor could we play on the playground set in the park because we were "too big". We wanted to enjoy our grandchildren for a long time, so we began our journey in March of 2014. It started with proper diet, then exercise by training for a 5k. During this time, Tim was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Follicular Lymphoma, stage 3. It was a scary time for us. What did the future hold as we started this health and fitness journey? We weren't going to let this stand in our way of enjoying life. We ran several 5k's that summer, but needed something more. Our daughter introduced us to Crossfit when visiting in Utah. Man, was it tough, but it didn't kill us. We thought we would give it a try.

In September of 2014 we started with a friend who had just opened his Crossfit Box, but by March we decided we needed more instruction. This is when we found Crossfit Beloit, Scott and his other awesome coaches. Scott helped us take ownership of our fitness goals and started us on a path to better health. The coaches have been amazing to work with. They won't let you do something sloppy to lift more weight. They teach us proper technique to keep us from getting injured and by teaching us proper technique we are able to lift more weight. It is like a family here at Crossfit Beloit. We watch out for each other, we cheer for each other when we reach a new PR, and we push each other to be better than we were the workout before.

We have since competed in 3 Crossfit competitions, we love it and plan to compete in many more. We even placed 2nd in the Masters Division at our 3rd event. Never thought that would happen nor that we would get so strong and accomplish what we have. We are still the "old couple", but now we rock it. Playing with our grandchildren is a joy, not a chore. We enjoy life more as we are able to do the things we have dreamed about. Hiking in the Utah and Idaho mountains with family, running 5k's, playing at the playground and not being "too big", and most of all being more healthy. We owe our healthier selves to the awesome coaches and friends at Crossfit Beloit. Nancy has lost 80 lbs and Tim 40 lbs in their fitness journey. Tim is doing well and his cancer is in remission. We believe getting healthier and stronger at Crossfit Beloit had something to do with that
