13.1 is in the books and boy was it ever a good one! Let's just combine 12.1 and 12.2 into a 17 minute WOD from hell! And what did we figure out...well from those of us that did the wods from last year we either did as well or better on a workout that by nature is a lot more difficult. Snatching heavy when your heart rate is jacked is no joke. We also figured out we need to be better on our snatches which was pointed out by our friends from Milton that rocked the shit out of them snatches. Point in case, just watch the video above of Tom Slaten knock out 30 snatches with ease after doing 70 burpees and 30 snatches at 135.
WOD
The Open is Upon Us!
Only 2 days until the first WOD of the open is announced! What are your guesses as to what the first one will entail? I just hope it is not 7 minutes of Burpees again. Although, that was a great test of fitness and anyone with a video camera was able to submit a score last year. Things that you will most likely see are: double unders, box jumps, chest to bar pull-ups, toes to bar, wall-balls, muscle-ups, and plenty of barbell work over the next 5 weeks. So keep your nutrition dialed in and put on your game face come Friday nights at 5:30!

Spartan Race Anyone?
So after participating in 3 Tough Mudders I thought this year it would be fun to switch it up a bit and do a Spartan Race. From what I have heard from people that have done both is that the Spartan Race has better obstacles and is more challenging. This year's race is about 2 hours south of here in Illinois on Saturday July 20th. A little about the race:
The Super Spartan obstacle race provides an 8+ MILES / 20+ OBSTACLES battlefield of insane mud running with 15 or more obstacles to test your physical strength and mental resolve. This mud fest of a race will have many trials to push you to your limits that any man or woman with resolve can complete! This endurance race conists of mud runs, trails, and both mental and physical obstacles and challenges. The good news is that after you complete your painful journey, there will be live music and a catered meal to soothe your aching joints. Top 3 Males and top 3 Females at each Super Spartan qualify for a free entry into the Spartan Beast.
What you get?
- Spartan Race T-Shirt
- Spartan Race Finisher Medal
- One free beer (must be 21 or older)
- Access to on site food vendors
- DJ Entertainment
- Awards Ceremony
- Top finishers receive free entry into the Spartan Death Race
