So there will be no class on Saturday as everyone should be running the Edgerton Mud Challenge! If you have not signed up please click on the link below. The CFB crew will be running the 11 am heat and we will be carpooling from the gym at 9:30. If you cannot make that heat do not fret as there are heats all day starting at 8 am till 6 pm.

New Coach!
Please Help me welcome the newest CrossFit Beloit Coach Emily. She completed her level 1 seminar last weekend and I am pumped to have her as a coach. A little back story on Emily for you...Emily came to CFB with her Husband Seth over a year ago. Her first few days were very trying like they are for everyone but Emily was especially hard on her self. She was a competitive high school athlete and she was shocked when she wasn't good at a movement. I clearly remember her begin to cry after not being able to string her pull-ups together. But she never quit and she worked hard and still is putting in effort on all of her weakness. That is why she is a complete beast! I hope everyone realizes why she is as good as she is and follow her example and put in the effort to get to beast mode!
Beyond that she is very talent artist and we have her and Lani to thank for the awesome mural on the wall and she is also working on a promotional video for the gym. From what I have seen so far it will be insane!
Congratulations Emily!
Is it warm yet???
So, I think (crossing my fingers) that warm weather is upon us and that means it is time to get outside and use the fitness that we have worked so hard for all winter. There are many events that CFB will be doing and I want to make sure that everyone is aware of them. First up is the Edgerton Mud Challenge which is a 5k put on by the fire department. It is coming up quickly...like in 2 weeks quickly. May 11, so if you want in on the action please sign up and it should be warm! Which brings up and interesting topic, "Mud runs in cold weather." After the Gladiator Assault challenge, that I talked a few of you into doing, there will be no suggestions from me of doing a mud run from the months of October to April. If I do try and talk you into a mud run in cold weather you have permission to bitch slap me!
The big one this summer is going to be The Spartan Race July 20th. We decided to switch it up this year from the Tough Mudder and I expect it is gonna be a legit challenge as it is CrossFit oriented. We are chartering the same bus as last year and it even looks like we may need to do two from all the people signed up! The more the merrier right??? Other races include the Milton Mud Run and The Rockin' the Mud Challenge!
I also want to put on a summer camp (remember those) where you get to be a kid again. My family has a beautiful cabin in Park Falls and it would be amazing to get the CrossFit Crew up for a weekend. We have been know to preform burpees on the dock and then swim out to the float for thrusters with heavy rocks! I was thinking the weekend of July 5th, 6th, and 7th. Please let me know if you are in. It will be a weekend of complete lawlessness and fitness with copious amounts of beer! Does that go together???
Other things I have in mind are a hoover ball tournament hosted at the Thiele residents in Beloit. I want to get to other CrossFit gyms in the area involved and since we have home court advantage and Marshall we should dominate!
Lastly there are a few mud volley ball tourneys we will be participating in, Rockton and Janesville. I do not know the dates yet but I promise it is a great time and I will post the dates so we can get a few teams together. Our last years team name was "It ain't pretty being easy" and we totally dominated!
If you have any events on your calendar let me know and we will get the Beloit CrossFit Crew involved!
Why Women Should Not Run!
So I know that a lot of people will have a problem with this and I understand...however the thing of the matter is this. If you actually enjoy running, like really (which I don't know is possible), keep running; but if you are doing it to lose it won't help. I can go in depth about it but I will let someone with sited resources explain.
Edgerton Mud Challenge
Cool event coming up ya'll...the Edgerton Mud Challenge is Saturday May 11th. This is the first year and promises to be a great event. The race is a 5k with 10 plus obstacles which will be good prep for the Spartan race this summer.
The main reason to do this event is that we are raising money for the Edgerton Fire District which our very own Ryan Beckwith is the Deputy Chief of. Ryan has been apart of the CrossFit Beloit family for over a year now and has started his little own CrossFit gym at the department there to get the fire boys into real shape (if only we could get our Beloit department involved). It would be great to support this cause and maybe get him some more money to grow the gym up there!
I am running it at 11...has a better chance to be warm by then!
